start your day right

Try this smoothie.  It's really chuck full of nutrients.  I love starting my day with good nutrition.  It's a good feeling.  I've posted about this smoothie before but it's really a classic.  If you aren't drinking green smoothies, it's time to get in on all of the action.  Here's me peer-pressuring you to drink it.  Just do it.  Everyone's doing it :)
Kick Start
Well, it’s no coffee but it’ll give you the energy you need to start your day.  This shake is high in antioxidants (vita A, C, E), magnesium, iron, calcium, and B vitamins.  This is the perfect blend to KICK START your day.
1 mango cut
1 cup pineapple chunks
2 cups unfiltered apple juice
2 cups water
Handful blueberries (frozen works great)
1 cup spinach
2 cups kale
1/2  cup parsley
2 red chard leaves
1 collard green leaf
5 apricots (I use frozen)
Ice, optional

Blend until smooth and serve.  Makes 6 pint sized servings.

Just hide the greens... that's what I do

I made the best smoothie today And the best part about it my kids tell me was that it wasn't green.
The magic of blueberries and graph juice.  It'll disguise those greens. If you have picky eaters, they won't even notice that you put greens in this smoothie.

Purple Blast:
2 cups grape juice
1 cup water
1 banana
1 big bunch of red chard (approx. 7 giant leaves)
1 T alfalfa powder
1 cup spinach
2 cups frozen blueberries
1 cup frozen strawberries

Blend and serve. (And laugh inside when your kids thank you for not putting greens in the smoothie today)
Oh if only they knew.  Shhhh.  :)

Basil Wraps Rock!

I made these basil wraps. Super easy to make, low in calories and quite filling.  The dressing tastes amazing.
Here's how easy they are:

Rice Paper (available at an Asian Market) soak in warm water for a few seconds
fill rice paper with salad mix
add chopped basil, chopped carrots, cucumbers, avocados, etc
roll inside rice paper wrap
dip in sauce

Dipping Sauce
1/2 cup olive oil
2 garlic bulbs
1/4 c agave
1/4 c almond flour
1/4 c Nama Shoyu (this is soy sauce)
Blend in blender
Add sesame seeds
